Guess where I spent my Sunday afternoon

...the Meadowlands!

That's right, a friend of Dave's came through with two free tickets at the last minute and my weekend was made.  We beat the 49ers 29-17, and the Giants defense kicked butt (there was a safety, when is there ever a safety?) which means that Dave's fantasy team did too (he's got Big Blue's defense on his team).

Perfect indeed

I found this article online. It captures exactly how I feel about the Giants win on Sunday.
I especially love the last line.

p.s. I didn't write this in my post about watching the game in Peru, but the one downside to that night was that we could only hear the Spanish commentators from the local Fox Sport channel, thus I missed out on some familiar voices guiding me through the game. One cool thing about this though, was that they kept referring to the Giants as, "Los Gigantes."

p.p.s. This just in... Maybe all the "Redskins suck!" chants that Jenn said she heard during the parade when Spagnolo rode by worked.

Sweet disbelief

Dave and I made it to Aguas Calientes yesterday afternoon and managed to upgrade our room to one with a TV, which, in the end, was worth every penny. I´m fairly sure I woke up our entire hotel last night, screaming after Plaxico caught that final touchdown pass. I was jumping up and down on the bed like a crazy person and Dave was unable to persuade me to stop.

This morning we made it up to Machu Picchu which was obscured by fog when we arrived, but a mere 10 minutes later the clouds broke and the sun came out. It was beautiful. I don´t have the ability to post photos from this computer, but I will be sure to do so as soon as I´m back in Brazil.

While our trip started out on a bad note, last night and this morning have served to resuscitate it, and then some. Too bad I won´t make the ticker tape parade tomorrow, but I will be there in spirit.

Upgrade

Dave and I leave for Peru tomorrow morning. Right now I should be getting excited, I should be charging my camera battery and packing up my rain gear, but instead, I have spent the last half an hour on the phone being that gringo who calls up a hotel located next to one of the most awe-inspiring sights of the world and asks, "Which rooms in your hotel have TVs and who is your cable carrier?"

The good news is that they have DirectTV which means the Superbowl will, for sure, be broadcast. The quite horrible news is that they only have TVs in their "suite-level" rooms, and to get into one of those Dave and I will have to shell out an extra $264 on top of the outrageous room rate we are already paying to stay Machu Picchu-adjacent for one night.

How much am I willing to pay to see Big Blue in the game that no one (but me) believed they would be in? Considering tickets to the actual game are now selling for upwards of $2000, I suppose I should consider this a bargain.

Alright, back to getting excited for my trip (which, despite this snafu, I am), and the rain gear, as I hear we're going to need it...

See you in ARIZONA!

When I wrote "best Sunday ever," little did I know it would turn out to be the best Sunday EVER. Finishing the Sunday crossword pales in comparison to the Giants going to the Superbowl! (And winning a bet I made with my husband, back before the playoffs even started, when I said that Big Blue was going to the Superbowl.) Corey Webster and Lawrence Tynes, you are my heroes.

Superbowl bound

Everyone called me crazy when I said my boys would make it to the big game. Two upsets later, they are just a few bites of cheese away...
